[US] California，La Jolla，University of California, San Diego

當初在規劃行程時，我想找些略微不一樣的景點，但仍然帶點趣味性，結果就找到了位在La Jolla的加州大學聖地牙哥分校，部落客的介紹是這兒有不少公共藝術品，有興趣的話應該是可以逛一段時間的。
When I started to arrange this trip, I just wanted to find some places that people usually not go but still can have fun. I finally found University of California, San Diego. Why? Because there are some interesting art works.

第一個點是蓋澤爾圖書館，別名幽浮，實在是很像一台外星人的太空船停泊在山丘上，即使在週末，這兒也是開放的，進去走走時，也看到了一些學生帶著筆電在念書(應該是！)，這兒的座位很棒，有一整圈靠在窗邊的自習位，這真的不知是優點還是缺點，這樣的美景，難道不會讓學生分心嗎？
The first place is Geisel Library which is also known by UFO. It's really like a UFO landing on the hill. When I get in, there are some students study there. Most people sit next to the windows. You may enjoy the landscape while feel tired. I don't know that's an advantage or a disadvantage, the landscape is so beautiful that may easily distract the students.

Google地圖領著我開車沿著Hopkins Lane來到圖書館，結果那兒算是山丘的頂部，走到幽浮下方之後，還要再往下一層才能進入圖書館，所以有個大大的圖書館入口請往下的標誌，還算有趣。
Google Maps lead us to drive the top of the hill, so we have to go down stairs then we can find the entrance. I don't know if that's the only way to drive close. I found the cars were parked nearby where I park. That might be the only way there.

從介紹來看，這圖書館是建好後改名為蓋澤爾圖書館的，為了紀念美國一位有名的作家及漫畫家，以兒童書最出名，希奧多．蘇斯．蓋索，筆名，蘇斯博士。我想上面照片中站在他旁邊的，應該是他筆下的角色吧！
This library is named Geisel for Theodor Seuss Geisel, who was an American writer and illustrator best known for authoring popular children's books under the pen name Dr. Seuss. I believe this statue is for him and his character. 

這本書位在蛇徑的尾端，也許是他的作品。
I guess this book might be one of his famous works.

圖書館的後側，有條有名的小徑─蛇徑，沿著蛇徑往下走，可以找到上面照片的書本，還有下一個較有名氣的景點，Do Ho Suh's Fallen Star。
Behind the library, there is a famous path called Snake Path. You may pass the garden and find another interesting spot, the Do Ho Suh's Fallen Star.

這是一位韓國藝術家的作品，就位於Jacobs Hall的頂端，之前看到的資料是這兒並不是很常開放，也許由於我抵達的日子還是在星期六，就更不可能開放了，真是太可惜了。
It's designed by a Korean artist located on the top of Jacobs Hall. It's too pity that it's not opened while I arrived. I guess it's because I was there on Saturday. The building may not open on weekends.

索爾克研究所則是個來看建築的點，但是，仍然沒有開...看來，要到大學走走，尤其是想要參觀這些景點的內部的話，還是要週間來拜訪才行，週末都關門休息了。
附註：索爾克研究所的週邊都有圍牆，圍牆的門就整個不開放，連接近看看都不行。
The Salk Institute is the 2nd place that is closed. From this experience, I guess the school just close on weekends and also for the buildings or facilities. If you really want to take a look, come on weekdays.

[US] California，La Jolla，The Cottage

從洛杉磯開車到聖地牙哥，在週六早上大約需要兩小時，因為不想早起，就安排在La Jolla (拉霍亞，拉荷雅)的The Cottage享用早午餐，這是一間在La Jolla還滿知名的餐廳，出發前幾天和同事聊起這間餐廳，他馬上就知道我要去哪裡，還提醒幾乎隨時都要排隊一小時左右，還好我最後只等了三十分鐘左右(當時侍者預估的等待時間是45分鐘)。
The Cottage is a very famous brunch restaurant in La Jolla. When I mentions to a friend that I'm coming here for brunch, he recognized which restaurant it is and reminded me there may always be a line here for maybe one hour. When I really arrived, I waited for about 30 minutes although the waiter told me to wait for 45 minutes. 

抵達時，附近還不算難停車，算是挺方便的，不過的確已有不少人正在外面等待用餐了，就隨意地拍拍照，發現了兩個好消息，一個是The Cottage不再只供應早，午餐(之前Google Maps上的資料是只營業到下午三點)，還開放到晚餐了；另一個好消息則是這間餐廳不止吸引東方面孔來吃飯，還有不少西方人，就我的了解，其他西方人挺不愛排隊的，幾乎是一問到要排隊就會放棄，不像台灣人或是日本人，聽到要排隊反而會更想去。
When I arrived, I have a good news and a bad news. Bad news is that there is really a line, so I waited for half an hour. Good news is The Cottage is not a brunch restaurant anymore, they also serve for the dinner, ha~ And another good news is that not only Asian people is waiting in the line, also includes the American/European which means the taste should be good, not only for a specified of group.

既然還有些時間，就先在四處晃晃，有兩間外表看起都挺漂亮的教堂，相據不到三分鐘路程。
Since I had time, I took a walk for the neighbors. I found two churches and they are very close. I think this is interesting.

這顆蛋，我想應該是某種裝置藝術吧～
And I think this is an art just demonstrated in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego.

這個海邊應該是Coast Boulevard Park，不大，感覺很不錯，沙子挺細，海水也乾淨，而且人又少，還看到一個女孩帶著書，在這兒的板凳上放鬆地閱讀，感覺真是享受～
And I also walk to the beach, I guess it's the Coast Boulevard Park, it looks like a really nice beach. Not so many people and the water is so clean. You can easily relax and enjoy the time. I even found a girl brings a book and read there (in the last photo). That's how a vacation should be.

回到The Cottage，網路看到有人推薦的料理是Eggs La Jolla，不過因為我不是很喜歡美式那硬硬脆脆的培根(我不確定這兒是不是會將其煎得硬硬脆脆的)，我點了Baja Chicken Hash，好吃，我超愛這兒的半熟蛋，直接將蛋黃放入口中，再將其咬破，讓蛋黃汁液充滿口腔的感覺真是太美妙了～如果讓我推薦，來這兒點半熟蛋類的料理就對了！
Some bloggers recommend to try the Eggs La Jolla. Since I don't really like the crispy bacon in US, I try Baja Chicken Hash which is also really, really good. Especially for the eggs. I love the flavor while uncooked yolk melting in my mouth. That's one of my favorite. For me, I will say all the stuff with eggs here should be delicious.

吃完時大約兩點，此時所有等待的客人都已入座，或許，不想等待的人，可以在這個時間點再來這間餐廳吃飯。
When I finished, there is no one waiting and time is around 2 o'clock. If someone wants to come and can eat lunch a little bit late, maybe you should come after two since they shouldn't close at three.

[US] California，Rowland Heights，大合滷味 Ding's Garden

大合滷味在南加是間在華人之間非常有名的餐廳，我的台灣同事們幾乎都知道，都很推薦它的攪和攪和。 
The Ding's Garden is a very famous Chinese restaurant is South California, especially for those Chinese or Taiwanese. Most of my colleagues know about it and recommend the Jiao Ho Jiao Ho.

幾天前我又來到這兒吃飯，才發現它把隔壁也包下來了，增加了一倍的空間，看來真的賺了不少呀！ 
Few days ago, I went there again and I found they were expanded. The next unit is also part of the Ding's Garden. They must earn a lot.

以上是新的菜單，看得出來圖片變多了，應該是希望能夠吸引更多的客人吧！ 
This is their new menu. More photos which help people to understand what they serve.

攪和攪和四樣菜，豆干，豬耳朵，牛肚和牛腱，稍稍帶點微辣，正因如此，相當好吃，而且兩三種一起入口，更是有不同的變化，難怪很多有賣滷味的中式餐廳都有攪和攪和；就份量來說，適合兩到三人分享。
Jiao Ho Jiao Ho (4 items), also called Ding's special cold plate. There are bean curd, pig's ear, beef tripe and spicy beef tendon. It's really delicious and not that spicy. 4 items are more proper for two to three people for sharing.

醬爆牛肉乾拌麵，在南加也吃了不少中式或是台式料理，我發現這兒的乾拌麵都相當不錯，也許因為大多都是北方人擀出來的，相當地有勁道，簡單地跟醬汁拌一下，很容易就能吃出麵條的美味！
Beef Brown Sauce Dry Noodle, I like to try dry noodle in US. Maybe because the noodles are hand made by Chinese. They are so chewy. When with sauce, they mixed really good~

下面則是之前曾經點過的料理。
Below are some items I tried the other time.

攪和攪和三樣菜，豆干，豬耳朵和牛肚，以份量來說，可以一個人吃完，雖然會挺飽的，以女生的平均食量，可能要兩個人分享才能吃得完。
Jiao Ho Jiao Ho (3 items), three items doesn't include spicy beef tendon. It's OK for a person to finish it. Maybe need two girls to finish it.

牛肉麵，這兒的牛肉麵跟其他中式餐廳比較不一樣，其他的很明顯加了很重的調味，所以湯汁基本上沒這麼清澈，這兒的湯相對口味較淡，是我比較喜歡的。
Beef Noodle Soup, I like the soup here because it's much more clear than others I've tried and this is the way I like. I like to taste the original flavor of foods.

[US] California，Brea，BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse

約兩個月前，和同事一起到BJ's品嚐其最著名的厚比薩。
Almost two months ago, I went to BJ's with my colleagues. I forgot why we chose BJ's, maybe it's because someone wants to try deep dish pizza which BJ's is famous from.

其實，以前我很少在關心吃的東西的卡路里有多高，來到美國之後，有不少餐廳(接近五成吧)都會在菜單上顯示相關資訊，每一片厚比薩的熱量基本上都在200大卡以上，一餐吃完一整個的話就破一千大卡了！
Showing this photo is because I would like to highlight how wealthy it is, each slice can have more than 200 calories.

這是六吋的迷你比薩，的確跟台灣Pizza Hut的個人比薩差不多大，但是厚度，料的豐盛程度，差好多～
This is the mini size pizza, 6 inches, which is perfect for a person who doesn't eat much. 

這個則是我點的九吋小比薩，剛好讓一個胃口很不錯的人吃得很飽，而且由於豐富的配料， 每口都很滿足，根本不會想說邊邊的那一層邊皮就不吃，光吃中間的料就好，連邊皮都有料，有起士，完全不會想要放棄，呵呵～

This is what I ordered but I forgot what the taste is, the small size, 9 inches, which is for a person may eat much. It's really wealth. In one bite, you can have chicken, tomato, and cheese. You will be so satisfied.

[US] California，Rowland Heights，川媽 Chuan Ma Noodle House

這天，利用Yelp在羅蘭岡尋找新餐廳，結果第一家就是Chuan Ma Noodle House，抬頭四望，找不到，決定每家都在門口晃晃好了，走沒兩家才發現，原來Chuan Ma就是川媽，不過看不到裡面有人，繼續往前走，逛完一圈沒有特別吸引人的，就還是回到川媽來吃四川味！
One day, I would like to find something new in Rowland Heights, so I use Yelp to search for restaurants nearby. I found the first one is Chuan Ma, but I couldn't find any restaurant's name is that. I can only go around the square and check every restaurant if I want to eat it. Suddenly, I found the Chuan Ma. The words are so small that I couldn't see it when I stand at the middle of the square. So this is it.

自然就點了小辣的紅燒牛肉麵，沒想到一上來湯汁居然這麼紅，這才小辣呀？吃了以後才發現，真的吃不出辣，只是我仍然一直流汗就是了～這家的牛肉煮得很軟，很容易入口，挺好吃的，另外則是麵的份量給得很多，至少一只半，甚至到了兩只，真的可以吃得很飽。
I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup which should be the famous of the restaurant. When I saw it, the soup is so red which makes me a little bit worried. Actually, it's not spicy. It just looks spicy although it makes me sweat a lot. The beef is really soft and taste good. 

另外則加點了一盤滷豬耳朵，軟嫰軟嫰的，好吃；跟台灣的口味不太一樣，台灣的通常都是脆的，嘗到了新東西了～
I also had a Stewed Pig Ear as the side dish. It's soft and juicy which is a bit different than Taiwan. In Taiwan, most restaurants make this as crispy. It's something new and taste good for me.
