[US] California,Brea,Olive Garden

來了美國近一年,回頭想想,發現自己最少去的餐廳,應該就是義式餐廳,我想應該是覺得,既然來到美國,當然應該多嚐試美式食物,有時候有點鄉愁的時候,就跑去吃亞洲食物,義式食物就被忽略了,再加上,在這一帶似乎義式餐廳還真的不多,幾天前,和同事一起來吃的這間─Olive Garden,算是一間很不錯的義式餐廳。
I have stayed in US for almost one year, if you ask me which kind of restaurant that I rarely went to, I may say Italian restaurants. I don't know why, maybe just because not so many choices for Italian restaurants. The Olive Garden is one that I just came with my colleagues few days ago.


沒想到,一拿到菜單,大家都有點傻眼,這兒提供生菜沙拉吃到飽或是濃湯吃到飽的服務,再加上麵包棒也是隨你吃,然後又還有許多主餐選擇,真的是讓人眼花,然後也激發人的貪慾,大家翻來覆去地看著菜單,過了十到十五分鐘才有辦法開始點餐。
The first interesting thing is that the menu makes people difficult to decide which he wants to eat. Here serves unlimited soup or unlimited salad and breadsticks. And then, you can choose a lot of combinations with the soup or salad. I think we spent 10 to 15 minutes for looking/reading the menu, ha~


最後,我決定選擇Cucina Mia!,義大利麵隨我配,只是以前從來不知道不同種類的義大利麵的英文,只好從看得懂的來挑了,選了大蒜白酒醬的煎雞塊義大利麵。
Finally, I decided to make pasta my own way, so I select Cucina Mia! Because there are so many vocabularies, I can only choose the combination that I understand, spaghetti + garlic white wine + grilled chicken.


這兒的麵包棒做得不錯,味道淡淡的,很香,帶點嚼勁,大家至少都吃了兩根。
The breadsticks, which is crispy. The taste is not that strong but really good which I like. Most of us had at least two.



這兒的家庭式沙拉也好吃,還有現磨的起士,新鮮的生菜,生菜的甜味有整個被提出來,再加上烤得剛剛好的麵包丁,真的是很棒!
The salad, and they served it with really good cheese. Fresh and sweet. The croutons here may be the best I've ever tried, just crispy enough. Too much is too hard to eat. 


義大利麵也很好吃,雖然不像台式的有那麼濃的蒜味,也能很恰當地調合雞肉與麵條,好吃。
在這兒吃過幾次義大利麵,發現一件和台灣挺不一樣的地方,台灣廚師在煮義大利麵時,我遇到的都會把麵條與肉或者海鮮混著醬汁一起加熱,讓所有食材的味道融合為整體;美國的廚師則大多都把三者分開處理,直到要裝盤時才會一層層地重疊,交由顧客加以混合入口,這樣三者的味道會相對獨立;說不上哪種比較好,我是兩種都喜歡。或許,哪天應該去義大利吃吃原產地的義大利麵。
The pasta is really good. The sauce is strong enough to combine the spaghetti and the chicken to one. It's really delicious. 
Here is one interesting thing I found for cooking pasta. In Taiwan, most Italian restaurants will cook the meat and pasta together in the pan and mixed with the sauce. Here, most I've tried, the chef cook them all separately, they only put them together on the plate and the customer mixed them by himself. I love both ways, maybe next time I should go to Italy to taste how Italians cook the pasta.

寫部落格順便就查了查當初菜單上的單字,也許不一定記得下來,至少以後要找翻譯時比較容易找得到。

      在查之前,我也只知道Spaghetti,查了之後,還是記不起來~
